Greetings!
I’m Drake Isabell
I am currently a Ph.D. student in New Testament at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. I earned both my Bachelor of Arts and Master of Divinity from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, MO.
During my time at MBTS, I served as Research Assistant and Content Manager for Book Notices at the Center for Biblical Studies. In that role, I edited several dozen book notices written by both students and scholars to be published on the CBS website. I also assisted with proofreading, updating footnotes, and compiling indexes for multiple published volumes (list available upon request).
Over the years, I have often been asked by fellow students to proofread and critique their papers as well as offer guidance on how to improve their writing. Even in non-academic settings, I’ve typically been “the guy” who’s asked to read over everything from emails to job postings and to make any needed adjustments to improve quality. I have a keen eye for detail and an analytical mind that can quickly spot errors, inconsistencies, and weaknesses in written works. I have had a few book reviews published in academic journals and have contributed popular-level articles to outlets such as Christ Over All and Weekly Review.
To the surprise of no one, I am a voracious reader who loves working my way through a wide variety of literature, from academic tomes to graphic novels. I also enjoy quality time with my wife and two boys, rich discussions with friends, watching action/adventure movies, going on walks, exploring new places, and occasionally pretending to like coffee.
